Nier Replicant Supports 1080p On PS4/PS5 and 1440p On X1X/XSX

Nier Replicant is a remake of the original Nier that was first released for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Unfortunately, it doesn’t offer a native current-generation version.

Nier Replicant appears to follow the footsteps of its successor, Nier Automata. The game renders at a native resolution of 1080p on the PS4 Pro and targets 60 FPS. This applies to the PS5 version as well since there is no native version for the current-generation consoles.

On the other hand, the Xbox One X version renders at a slightly higher 1440p resolution which carries over to the Xbox Series X. Both of these versions also target 60 FPS.

While there are no enhancements for the current-generation consoles, those who own a PS4 Pro or Xbox One X should be able to enjoy a smoother frame rate overall. Shadows are of better quality with improved draw distance while the anisotropic filtering is higher on the Xbox One/Series X.

Nier Replicant runs at 1080p resolution on both the PS4 and PS4 Pro, but the Xbox One renders at 792p resolution. The performance is overall solid, especially on the PS4 Pro and PS5.

While the original Nier was praised for its story and characters, it lacked in the visuals and gameplay. This remake appears to polish up the flaws of the original game by improving the visuals and gameplay while retaining the charm of the original story and characters. As a result, it has received a far better critical reception than the original game.
