PS5 offers just 667 GB of usable storage so saving every little drop of GB counts. Here’s a useful tip that can help you save storage space.
As we have covered last month, PS5 has a special trophy unlock animation. In addition to saving screenshots when a trophy is unlocked, PS5 also keeps a record of the video until the moment when the trophy unlock happens. As a result, a lot of videos can quickly accumulate over a short period of time.

If you have a game on PlayStation 5 that has multiple trophies to collect e.g Astrobot, the unlock videos can take as much as 1 GB of storage space. There is a way to avoid it.
If you have purchased a PlayStation 5, make sure to head into the settings menu and look for the option to disable trophy unlock videos from there. Additionally, while we can’t confirm it, for now, it might be possible to reduce the quality of these videos that are saved automatically. If you really want to keep them saved, it can be possible to transfer them to an external storage device.
In any case, it is best to disable these trophies unlock animations especially if you are short on storage spaces. They can end up taking a good chunk of your hard disk and while some of these can inevitably lead to cool moments being captured, they are best reserved for games that you care about, rather than keep them enabled for every single game.
PlayStation 5 is out today on November 12 in the U.S., Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea. It will be released in the rest of the world on November 19.
