Capcom has shared sales update on several of their catalog games including Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 3, and Monster Hunter World.
Capcom has cited the sales success and strong legs of their catalog games as one of the reasons for driving their revenue in the current fiscal year.
Capcom has shared a sales update on their catalog games with the sales data as of the end of their fiscal year. According to the updated sales figure, Resident Evil 7 continues to be a juggernaut and has now sold 500K additional copies for a cumulative total of 9 million. It is already the best-selling single entry in the series surpassing Resident Evil 5 and 6. It is closely followed by Resident Evil 2 Remake that has sold 8 million units. Resident Evil 3 Remake, meanwhile, is at 3.9 million units.
Other games that received a sales update include Monster Hunter World, which stands at more than 17.1 million copies sold, up 300K from the last reported figure. Monster Hunter Rise has sold 4.8 million copies despite being a Nintendo Switch exclusive.
In their fiscal presentation, they have outlined their plans for the fiscal year 2022 where they are hoping to sell more than 32 million units. They attribute most of it to continued sales of their catalog games along with 13 new titles that they plan to release by April 2022. This already includes Resident Evil Village and Monster Hunter Stories 2 but there might be additional unannounced games.
Capcom has just released Resident Evil Village which is out now for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC. It has already sold 3 million copies within its debut week.
