Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ray-Tracing Comparison After New Update

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales has received an update that has improved its reflections when using the ray-tracing performance mode on PS5.

Insomniac Games has implemented the same improvement to its ray-tracing technology in the new update as it did with the recent Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. This allows the developers to improve the depth of the ray-traced reflections without sacrificing the image quality.

In the case of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, the ray-tracing was already a step ahead of Miles Morales and the Spider-Man Remastered version, and now they appear to have carried this to Miles Morales at least.

This was all part of the new update for Miles Morales on the PS5 that patched the game to version 1.10. The patch notes mentioned the improvements in the changelog.

  • Improvements to ray-traced reflection quality in the Performance RT graphics mode

This appears to be the case based on our comparison. While the differences are hard to spot unless you really know where to look for them, they do exist as seen in the screenshots below. (Left is pre-patch and right is post-patch)

Keep in mind that this mode has not been implemented so far for the original Spider-Man Remastered version. It is only available for Miles Morales and the new Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, but knowing Insomniac, it won’t be a big surprise to see this make it for the original Spider-Man Remastered as well.
