Arc Raiders PS5 Pro Update 1.26 Will Add Improved PSSR

by Greg Martin

Embark Studios has announced that Arc Raiders update 1.26 will introduce an upgraded version of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution for PS5 Pro users, with the update scheduled to go live on April 28. The enhancement focuses on improving image quality through machine learning based upscaling, delivering a sharper and more stable visual experience.

The updated PSSR technology works by analyzing images at a pixel level to reconstruct higher-quality output. According to the developer, this results in noticeably cleaner visuals, particularly in the game’s detailed environments. Players on PS5 Pro can expect reduced flickering and shimmering, alongside improved clarity across complex scenes.

Motion handling has also been refined. The upgraded system is said to better preserve detail when objects are in motion, whether it is environmental elements like foliage or fast moving enemies. In addition, ghosting artifacts on translucent effects, such as particles and weather systems, have been reduced, leading to a more consistent presentation during gameplay.

Embark notes that these improvements come without any performance trade-offs, allowing the game to maintain its current performance profile while enhancing visual fidelity. The studio also highlighted that implementing the new version of PSSR required minimal adjustments, with the technology performing reliably across a range of scenarios, from open environments to combat heavy encounters.

The upgrade is exclusive to PS5 Pro, while players on the standard PS5 will continue using TSR upscaling, which remains unchanged in this update. Update 1.26 will be available starting April 28, bringing these visual improvements to the game alongside ongoing support from the development team.
