ASUS may reveal its next-gen gaming handheld at the upcoming Computex 2026 event in June, 2026, it is claimed.

According to German handheld-focused content creator Steam Dad, ASUS is “highly likely” to unveil a next-gen handheld gaming device during Computex 2026, which takes place in Taiwan at the beginning of June. In a recent video, he teased that fans looking for a “next-gen handheld from ASUS” should pay close attention to the event, and that he will be able to openly talk about it in around two weeks.

The content creator said, “You should definitely keep an eye on Computex if you want to see a next-generation handheld from ASUS, because it’s possible that something could be announced there.” A next-generation ASUS handheld could potentially feature AMD’s upcoming mobile hardware, improved battery efficiency, a higher refresh rate display, or refinements to ergonomics and software. Computex has historically been one of the biggest stages for PC hardware announcements.

The content creator also noted that current handheld pricing has started to drop. He pointed out that Lenovo’s Legion Go S has recently been reduced to around 500 Euros at some retailers, suggesting that existing handhelds may be receiving discounts ahead of the next wave of handheld releases.

ASUS has become one of the most recognizable names in the PC handheld space due to its ROG Ally lineup, which helped push PC-based handheld gaming further into the mainstream alongside devices like Valve’s Steam Deck.  The handheld gaming market has become increasingly competitive over the past few years, with several hardware manufacturers racing to capitalize on growing demand for portable PC gaming systems.

For the uninitiated, the ASUS entered the handheld gaming market with the ROG Ally portable gaming PC on June 13, 2023. The device is powered by Windows 11, and features AMD’s Zen 4-based Ryzen Z1 and Ryzen Z1 Extreme processors. It can also connect to a monitor or television using a dock or compatible adapter, allowing it to function similarly to a desktop PC or traditional gaming console.
