Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories will launch on February 25, 2027, KOEI TECMO America and Gust have announced. The latest entry in the Atelier series will release for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, with a new trailer offering a closer look at its world, combat, exploration, and alchemy systems.

The game follows Karia, an alchemist who has lost her memories, as she travels across the continent of Aladiss with Servio Lektor, Fina Rozen, and fellow alchemist Yumia Liessfeldt. Their journey will take them into the mysterious underworld of Aladiss as they attempt to uncover its secrets.

They will also encounter Noelk Schreiber, an inspector from the Eustellan Bureau of Alchemical Relic Control, and Celes, a seemingly composed woman with an unusual side to her personality.

One of the major additions in Atelier Karia is a style system that allows Karia to change both her appearance and fighting style. More than 8 styles can be unlocked as players progress through the story and eat certain meals, giving Karia different abilities suited to particular combat situations.

Among the revealed styles are Ignis and Mermaid. Ignis allows Karia to use fire-based attacks while increasing her offensive power, although it also lowers her defense and makes her more vulnerable to ice. Mermaid focuses on ice magic and increases magic damage, but reduces Karia’s physical attack and leaves her more susceptible to fire.

Once unlocked, styles can be activated in combat by consuming specific items. They can also affect exploration, with certain styles allowing Karia to perform actions such as breaking obstacles while dashing or walking across water.

Exploration is further expanded through Interactive Field Actions. Karia can throw items to collect ingredients, destroy obstacles from a distance, and attack enemies. Certain environmental mechanisms can also be activated by using specific items in particular locations, with their effects changing depending on the element used.

Four elemental items are highlighted: Flamme for fire, Lehrune for ice, Plajig for electricity, and Luft for air. These can be used to interact with environmental mechanisms and overcome obstacles in different ways. Elemental Alteration also allows players to change the ingredients obtained from certain gathering points by using elemental items, encouraging experimentation while exploring.

The game will also feature battles against colossal enemies that require players to coordinate between Frontline Team and Assault Team phases. During the Frontline phase, players directly fight the enemy, while the Assault Team can support the battle by interacting with structures around the battlefield.

Players will need to complete objectives for both teams to reduce an enemy’s morale gauge. Secondary objectives can provide additional support through structures such as shelters, sonic cannons, and item launchers, while also reducing enemy morale. Ignoring these objectives can instead give the enemy an advantage, making objective management an important part of the larger encounters.

Alchemy remains central to the Atelier experience, with Gust introducing a revamped synthesis system. Players will use an alchemy cauldron in the depths of Aladiss and connect mana pieces from ingredients across a recipe map.

The shape and effects of ingredient pieces vary, while the way they are connected can influence the resulting item and its effects. Certain combinations can even produce entirely different items when specific conditions are met, giving players multiple ways to approach the synthesis system.

Players who pre-order the standard edition will receive the Noctrem Pioneering Preparation Set as an early purchase bonus. The set includes a special costume for Karia and the exclusive Training Badge equipment.

A physical Premium Box edition is also available for pre-order exclusively through the NIS America store. It includes the base game, an artbook, a CD containing additional tracks, 9 A4-sized posters, and costume downloadable content.

Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories will release on February 25, 2027, for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
