Attack on Titan 3 Launches This Winter, Gameplay Trailer Released

by Greg Martin

KOEI TECMO America and developer Omega Force have announced Attack on Titan 3, the latest entry in the action game series based on the popular anime and manga franchise. The game is scheduled to launch worldwide this winter for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

Alongside the announcement, the publisher released a new trailer showcasing gameplay and confirmed several new features that build upon the series’ signature Titan-slaying action.

Attack on Titan 3 follows the complete story of the anime, taking players from the early days of the Scout Regiment through to the events of the series’ conclusion. Players will create and control a member of the Scout Regiment while fighting alongside many of the franchise’s iconic characters as they relive the major battles that define the story.

Each member of the Scout Regiment brings unique abilities into combat, allowing players to assemble squads featuring fan-favourite characters and use their individual skills during missions.

The series’ trademark omni-directional mobility gear returns with further refinements, enabling fast-paced aerial combat against the Titans. Omega Force says enemies have been redesigned with new attacks and behaviours, making encounters more dangerous and requiring players to adapt their strategies throughout battle.

To make the game more accessible, Attack on Titan 3 also introduces a new Casual Mode, giving newcomers an easier way to experience the story and combat.

One of the biggest additions is Exterior Scouting Missions, a new gameplay mode that allows players to venture beyond the safety of the walls. During these expeditions, players will construct supply bases, eliminate Titans and gradually expand humanity’s territory.

Resource management also plays a greater role during exploration. Players must carefully manage their omni-directional mobility gear fuel and replacement blades while maintaining squad morale. Expeditions are designed around risk and reward, with players deciding whether to continue pushing deeper into Titan territory or retreat before suffering permanent injuries or losing squad members.

KOEI TECMO also confirmed that the game’s opening animation is being produced by MAPPA, the animation studio behind Attack on Titan: The Final Season. Action scene animator, storyboard artist and key animator Arifumi Imai returns to direct the opening sequence.

Attack on Titan 3 is currently in development and will support Japanese voice acting with text localisation in English, French, Italian, German and Spanish when it launches this winter for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
