Avowed Will Be Similar In Size & Scope To The Outer Worlds

Xbox and Obsidian Entertainment’s Avowed will be similar in size and scope to the studio’s previous role-playing game, The Outer Worlds.

Speaking during an interview on the extended Xbox Games Showcase stream, Avowed Game Director Carrie Patel revealed that the game will be similar in size and scope to the studio’s previous role-playing game, The Outer Worlds.

Avowed size the outer worlds

According to Patel, given how Avowed is set in the Pillars of Eternity universe, it will feature some returning characters from the series that fans will recognize. However, she clarified that the game will remain welcoming to newcomers.

Patel revealed that you will be accompanied by companion NPCs during your adventure in Avowed. Additionally, it was revealed that rather than being an open world game, Avowed will feature a series of interconnected zones. The game’s size and scale were said to be roughly equivalent to that of Knights of The Old Republic or The Outer Worlds, Obsidian Entertainment’s previous role-playing game.

Avowed is said to offer a wide array of combat options, including swords, bow and arrow, dual-wielding pistols, sorcery, and character builds for players to choose from.

Avowed is an upcoming action role-playing game being developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Xbox Game Studios. It is set in the world of Eora, which is the same universe as Pillars of Eternity. It is scheduled to be released in 2024 for Windows PC and Xbox Series X and Series S.

Players will embark on an immersive action role-playing experience from a first-person perspective. They will assume the role of an envoy from the Aedyr Empire, dispatched to the Living Lands, a remote region, to investigate a mysterious plague. Armed with magic, melee weapons, and firearms like pistols, players will engage in combat to overcome their adversaries. Progressing in the game unlocks more potent abilities through various skill trees, and weapons can be upgraded individually.
