Larian Studios’ latest role-playing game, Baldur’s Gate 3, is now available, and we’ve put together the best settings to get 40 fps on Steam Deck.
Before we delve into optimized settings for Baldur’s Gate 3 on Steam Deck, it’s worth pointing out that the game has an installation size of 80.46 GB at launch. This means that you’re going to need a reasonably large amount of space on the internal storage or a MicroSD card with some decent storage capacity. The 64 GB variant of the Steam Deck won’t be able to install the game at all on the internal drive, making the MicroSD card a necessity for such users.
How To Run Baldur’s Gate 3 On Steam Deck
In order to run the game on Steam Deck, you will not need to make any changes to Proton compatibility settings. However, once you boot it up for the first time, switch over from Vulkan to DirectX 11 API, as the latter is prone to crashes. With that out of the way, close the game and then select the Baldur’s Gate 3 icon and click on the gear icon to the right. Head over to Properties, and, in the General tab, look for Launch options towards the bottom. In the text box here, type “–skip-launcher”. This will allow you to bypass the launcher and head straight to the game every time you boot it up.
