Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Backend Update Improves Match Security and Prestige Handling

by Ali Haider

Activision has rolled out a backend update for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops II. The update focuses on improving match security while the team continues reviewing accounts that were assigned incorrect Prestige levels.

During the update process, some players may temporarily receive an account ban notice when removed from a match or session. According to Activision, this is a side effect of legacy systems used by older Call of Duty titles and does not automatically indicate that enforcement action has been taken.

Patch Notes

Match Security

  • Released backend updates to improve overall match security.
  • Continued reviewing accounts with incorrect Prestige levels.

Account Processing

  • Players may temporarily receive an account ban notice when removed from a match or session while account data is being updated.
  • The temporary notice is a byproduct of legacy systems used by older Call of Duty titles.
  • Receiving the temporary notice does not necessarily mean enforcement action has been taken against the account.

Enforcement

  • Players who can reconnect after receiving the notice have had their account processed successfully and do not need to take any further action.
  • Players who cannot reconnect have been identified for enforcement based on evidence of intentionally obtaining unauthorized Prestige levels or other violations of the Terms of Service, including account manipulation.

Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II are classic first-person shooters developed by Treyarch and published by Activision. The PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 ports, developed by Iron Galaxy Studios, launched on July 9, 2026. The latest backend update is available now for Call of Duty: Black Ops II on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
