Street Fighter 6 August 3 Update Introduces Balance Changes and Modern Control Adjustments

Capcom has released the August 3, 2026 update for Street Fighter 6, delivering a new round of battle balance adjustments aimed at refreshing the competitive meta. Rather than applying universal changes, the update focuses on individual characters to encourage greater variety in playstyles.

The patch also expands Modern Control options by updating selected normal and special moves for certain fighters. In addition, a bug affecting Drive Reversal inputs has been resolved, while detailed character-specific balance adjustments are available on the official website.

Battle Balance

  • Adjusted the overall game balance by reviewing every character.
  • Focused on shifting the competitive balance after recent updates resulted in relatively stable character strength.

Modern Controls

  • Updated selected normal moves that use the attack button for specific characters.
  • Updated selected special moves that use the SP button for specific characters.
  • Players can now choose the strength of Down + SP special moves by pressing:
    • Down-Back + SP
    • Down + SP
    • Down-Forward + SP
  • Updated Assisted Combos for certain characters to reflect the Modern Control changes.
  • Expanded Modern Control options to provide more choices during neutral play.

Universal Changes

Drive Reversal

  • Fixed an issue where holding back during an opponent’s Drive Reversal screen freeze could cancel previously entered commands or button inputs.
