Capcom has published the official resolution and frame rate targets for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, providing a detailed look at how the upcoming action-adventure title will perform across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, players will have access to Performance and Quality modes. The Performance setting targets 60fps while outputting at 3840×2160 using upscaling technology. Capcom notes that frame rates may dip during particularly demanding scenes. The Quality mode also outputs at 3840×2160 but operates between 30fps and 40fps.

Xbox Series S features similar options, though at a lower resolution. Both Performance and Quality modes target 1920×1080 output, with the former aiming for 60fps and the latter operating between 30fps and 50fps.

Nintendo Switch 2 takes a different approach. In TV mode, the game outputs at 1920×1080 using upscaling and targets 30fps. Handheld mode runs at 1600×900, also targeting 30fps. Capcom has confirmed that players will be able to enable a variable frame rate option that allows performance to fluctuate between 30fps and 40fps.

The newly released specifications suggest that Switch 2 owners will receive a noticeably lower frame rate than players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, though the option for a variable frame rate may provide a smoother experience in certain situations.

Capcom also disclosed the game’s PC requirements. The minimum specifications call for an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100, paired with a GeForce GTX 1660 or Radeon RX 5500 XT, to achieve 30fps at 1080p using the Low preset and upscaling. Recommended specifications target 60fps at 1080p on Medium settings with hardware such as an RTX 2060 Super or Radeon RX 6600.

For higher-end experiences, Capcom recommends an RTX 4060 Ti or Radeon RX 6750 XT for 1440p and 60fps on High settings. Players seeking 4K and 60fps on Ultra settings will need hardware on the level of an RTX 4070 Ti or Radeon RX 7900 XT, alongside an Intel Core i5-12400 or AMD Ryzen 7 5700 processor. Across all configurations, Capcom recommends an SSD and notes that performance may still fluctuate during intensive gameplay scenarios.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword launches on September 25, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. The game marks the return of Capcom’s long-dormant action series, following legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi as he battles demonic Genma forces in a dark fantasy version of Edo-period Kyoto.
