Devil May Cry 5 Has Sold 2 Million Copies Making It The Fastest Selling Game In The Series

Capcom has announced today that Devil May Cry 5 has sold through 2 million copies making it a success for them and achieving their expected sales target for it this fiscal year.

Devil May Cry 5 was the second best launch for Capcom on Steam. It didn’t open that well in the UK and Japanese market but apparently, this was no cause of concern for Capcom. One of the Capcom executives assured a fan in a reply on Twitter that the sales of the game were not low.

Today at a panel during GDC, Capcom has revealed the sales of Devil May Cry 5 confirming that it has sold two million copies worldwide. This makes it the fastest selling game in the series so far ahead of Devil May Cry 4 and also ahead of the reboot DmC. It should have no issue becoming the best selling game at this rate. The best selling Devil May Cry game is Devil May Cry 4 which sold three million in its lifetime followed by DmC: Devil May Cry at 2.4 million.

The game was directed by Hideaki Itsuno. It was developed on an internal engine produced by Capcom called RE Engine. They are using the same engine for most of their internally developed games including Resident Evil 2 Remake, which also sold through three million copies in its debut week making it a success for Capcom.

The game is available to play now on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It was released on March 8th, 2019. The sales that were disclosed today likely take into account both the digital and retail figure, but they are impressive nonetheless.
