Capcom has revealed new gameplay details for Dragon’s Dogma 2 Dark Arisen, showing how the upcoming expansion’s Relic Expedition system will work in the frozen region of Norgan. The expansion launches on October 9, 2026, and a free Dragon’s Dogma 2 title update is now available with several improvements ahead of its release.
The Relic Expedition system will send Arisen into the dangerous wilderness surrounding the Norgandian Settlement, the last remaining safe haven in a region once home to a thriving civilisation. The area is now filled with remnants of an ancient war, with valuable relics scattered among abandoned settlements, caves and monster-infested areas.
Preparation will be essential before heading into Norgan. Players will need to stock up on supplies, improve their equipment and find safe places to rest before setting out into the frozen wilderness.
The region is home to several dangerous enemies that can guard valuable relics. Beorcan warriors attack explorers who approach their firepits, while the Norgan Giant can freeze enemies with its breath. More powerful creatures, including the ice dragon Fimbl, can carry relics with even greater potential.
Exploration can also lead to valuable discoveries without requiring players to fight every enemy they encounter. Those willing to investigate Norgan’s abandoned locations and caves can uncover additional spoils, while Freki, a direwolf living in the Norgandian Settlement, can point Arisen towards valuable discoveries in exchange for payment.
Relics do not reveal their full potential immediately. Players must take them to Jiera, the matron of the Norgandian Settlement, who appraises the items and determines their final properties. Relics that initially appear similar can produce very different results after appraisal.
Appraised weapons and armour can provide improved statistics depending on the rarity of the original relic. They can also grant new abilities or enhance skills already available to the Arisen and their Pawn, giving players another way to strengthen their characters as they progress through Norgan.
Alongside the expansion details, Capcom has released a free title update for Dragon’s Dogma 2. The update introduces framerate improvements, additional save slots and a larger number of weapon skills that can be assigned for combat.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 Dark Arisen will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam on October 9 for $29.99. A complete edition containing the base game and Dark Arisen expansion will also release on the same day for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC for $49.99.
Players who pre-order the expansion will receive the Norgan Fashion Set: Northern Attire, which can be accessed from in-game storage when the expansion launches.
