Funcom has released Dune: Awakening on PlayStation 5 and Xbox, with the console launch accompanied by a major update that introduces a full single-player mode, expanded gameplay customisation, and additional story content. The same update is also available on PC.
The new single-player mode includes the entire game, including its existing content and features, while new customisation options allow players to adjust elements such as harvesting rates, experience gains, and death penalties. The update also adds several hours of story content that concludes Book One of Dune: Awakening’s narrative.
The console release includes the improvements and additions that have been made to the PC version since its launch. PvP is now optional, allowing the game to be played entirely through PvE, while the Deep Desert endgame offers separate PvE and PvP instances.
Other changes include the ability to save bases and recover vehicles, reduced death penalties, and the removal of taxes. The endgame has also been rebuilt around missions and progression through the Atreides and Harkonnen ranks, alongside new maps, dungeons, weapons, dynamic encounters, progression systems, and combat improvements.
A new Filmic Archive DLC is also available across all platforms for $9.99. It adds cosmetic content based on the Dune films, including the Caladan Stormcoat worn by Duke Leto and Paul in Dune: Part One and the Aegis of an Unwalked Path armour inspired by Paul Atreides’ visions in Dune: Part Two. The DLC also includes 73 Sardaukar building pieces, additional decorations, weapons, and emotes.
Dune: Awakening is available through Xbox Game Pass, with Deluxe and Ultimate Editions offered to members at a 20% discount. Xbox Play Anywhere support allows progression to carry across Xbox consoles, the Windows Store, ROG Xbox Ally, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. Cross-play between platforms is planned for a post-launch update.
The game is also discounted by 50% on Steam until October 8, marking its largest Steam discount so far. A physical PlayStation 5 edition is now available in retail and online, while the Japanese physical release is scheduled for October 29.
