Elden Ring is now among the top 10 best-selling premium games in the all-time US market in terms of Dollar sales. This is an incredible achievement, given that the game was released merely a few months back on February 25, 2022.
According to The NPD Group’s Mat Piscatella, in addition to being one of the top 10 best-sellers in US history, Elden Ring was also the best-selling game of June 2022, and continues to be the best-selling game of 2022 in terms of Year-To-Date Dollar sales. As of writing, the game has been the top seller in four of its first five months in the market. It’s fair to say that it is a massive success for all parties involved, including Namco Bandai and From Software.
The YTD 2022 Top 20 Sellers list has Elden Ring at #1, followed by LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga at #2, Pokemon Legends: Arceus at #3, Horizon: Forbidden West at #4, and MLB: The Show 22 at #5. According to Mat, the key takeaway is that Elden Ring has sold exceptionally well.
In other news from NPD for the month of June 2022, the PlayStation 5 generated the highest dollar sales amongst video game hardware platforms in both June and the first half of the year 2022, while Switch led both periods in unit terms of unit sales. In addition, PS5 dollar sales in the month of June 2022 experienced double-digit percentage growth when compared to June 2021.
