Evil Dead Burn will be released on digital platforms on August 4, arriving just over three weeks after its theatrical debut.
Directed by Sébastien Vaniček, the film is the sixth instalment in the long-running Evil Dead franchise. The story follows a grieving widow who reunites with her late husband’s family at a secluded home, only for the discovery of the Book of the Dead to unleash Deadite forces that turn the gathering into a desperate fight for survival.
The latest entry blends psychological horror with the series’ trademark gore and supernatural violence, while introducing a new story within the iconic franchise created by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert.
The Evil Dead series began with the 1981 original before expanding with Evil Dead II, Army of Darkness, the Ash vs Evil Dead television series, the 2013 reboot and Evil Dead Rise.
The franchise is also set to continue with Evil Dead Wrath, the seventh feature film. Written and directed by Francis Galluppi, the upcoming prequel is set in 1972 before the events of the original film and stars Charlotte Hope, Jessica McNamee and Zach Gilford. Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert are returning as producers on the project.
