Valve has provided a new update on Steam Machine reservations, saying it expects everyone currently holding a reservation to receive the opportunity to buy the device by the end of 2026.
The company said it has been shipping Steam Machine units since the end of June and is continuing to fulfil orders every day. Purchase invitations are being sent to reservation holders in the order determined by the post-randomisation queue, with Valve expecting the entire reservation queue to be cleared before the end of the year.
Valve also shared an update on its regional waitlists. Because reservations and waitlists are managed separately for each product and region, some queues are progressing faster than others. In certain regions, Valve has already reached the end of the reservation queue for specific models and has started inviting customers from the waitlist.
The company acknowledged that it mistakenly sent purchase emails directly to some waitlisted customers without first notifying them that they had been moved into the reservation queue. Going forward, anyone promoted from the waitlist will first receive a confirmation email explaining that they have been added to the reservation queue, followed by a separate purchase invitation when their turn arrives.
Valve stressed that waitlisted customers are not being moved ahead of existing reservation holders. The company said it will only begin drawing from a waitlist after the reservation queue for a particular product and region has been exhausted.
In addition to the reservation update, Valve announced that FSR 4.1 support is now available through Proton Experimental for games that support FSR upgrades. The company has also released the CAD file for the Steam Machine’s external geometry for download.
Customers who receive a purchase invitation will have 72 hours to complete their order. If the purchase is not finalised within that time, Valve said the opportunity will be offered to the next person in the queue.
