Ubisoft’s unannounced open world action-adventure game, Far Cry 7, is allegedly scheduled for release in late 2026, and may feature the previously rumored limited time mechanic.
Known Ubisoft insider and dataminer AgaiinTx took to Twitter/X to share a leaked audio clip from the next Far Cry game, featuring the constant sound of a clock ticking, hinting at the previously rumored limited time mechanic, where the player will have a finite amount of time to complete the main story. They also claimed that Far Cry 7 is set for release in late 2026.
The insider doubled down on their earlier claim of the game being set in the US state of Alaska, though they made one clarification. According to them, Far Cry 7 and its multiplayer extraction mode are now merged into one, though it features a map that is separate from the one in the story mode.
Back in November, 2025, the same dataminer shared screenshots and other details from Far Cry 7. The images were said to have been taken from the game’s extraction mode, rather than the main story. The extraction map is called “Paradise Park,” and allegedly features wildlife that will be hostile towards the player.
The insider said that one of the protagonists is a white bearded male who is possibly in his 30s. The game is said to have been developed using Ubisoft’s Snowdrop Engine. They also revealed the names of a few missions featured in Far Cry 7’s story mode, namely Airspace, NASA HQ, Verzion Centre, and JFK Centre.
Earlier in June, 2024, Reddit user KekanKok claimed to have details on the main cast of characters featured in Far Cry 7. They mentioned that casting calls were held for a project codenamed “Rival” a year prior. The project was managed by Angela Bottis, who was also the casting production manager for Far Cry 6 and several other Ubisoft titles. It was also listed on two actor resumes in connection to Ubisoft. The descriptions for main cast roles included mention of a wealthy family and a conspiracy theorist.
