Final Fantasy VII Remake director Tetsuya Nomura has teased news for the 25th anniversary of the game next month.
In a live stream event for the mobile game, Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier, Nomura confirmed that they will have something to share next month regarding the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII.
Final Fantasy VII was originally released on the PlayStation 1 in 1997. It will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year. Square Enix has announced multiple projects for its anniversary including two mobiles games, First Soldier and Ever Crisis. They are also working on a sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake.
While Nomura didn’t specify if any news will be shared on the hotly anticipated sequel, it could be one of the announcements next month along with a release date for Ever Crisis, the mobile Final Fantasy VII game that covers the story of the Final Fantasy VII arc including the Before Crisis saga that focused on the Turks.
Final Fantasy VII Remake was released for the PS4 in 2020 followed by a port to the PS5 in 2021 and a port to the PC later through the Epic Games Store. It is an expanded re-imagining of the original game that has been split into multiple chapters. It is being developed at Square Enix under the direction of Tetsuya Nomura.
