Square Enix has shared new details about the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, unveiling fresh information on Final Fantasy VII Revelation during FF14 Fan Fest in Berlin.
The presentation, as shared by Genki JPN, outlined the overall vision for the remake project while detailing gameplay features and confirming that Final Fantasy VII Revelation will conclude the trilogy when it launches in Spring 2027.
One slide highlighted the four pillars that define the remake series: world, battle, bonds and story. Square Enix said these elements form the foundation of the trilogy, with Revelation continuing the emphasis on large-scale exploration, hybrid action RPG combat, character relationships and the overarching conflict between Cloud and Sephiroth.
Another slide looked back at the trilogy’s progression. Final Fantasy VII Remake, released on April 10, 2020, was credited with earning 66 global awards and 80 global nominations. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which launched on February 28, 2024, was highlighted with 50 global awards and 127 perfect review scores.
Square Enix also outlined several headline features for Final Fantasy VII Revelation. The company described it as the largest world in the remake trilogy and confirmed that players will be able to freely explore the Planet aboard the Highwind airship. The game will also feature an evolved battle system designed to offer greater freedom and strategic depth, culminating in what Square Enix describes as “the final battle that will decide the fate of the Planet.”
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is set to launch simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox on PC, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
