Sony has confirmed the God of War Laufey release date, with the upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive set to launch on February 16, 2027.
The announcement was made during San Diego Comic-Con, where the release date for the next entry in the God of War franchise was officially revealed.
Earlier at the event, Santa Monica Studio’s Cory Barlog confirmed that the next Kratos-led God of War game will take place after the events of God of War Laufey and connect directly to its story.
God of War Laufey follows Laufey the Just, also known as Faye, the Jötunn warrior of Jötunheim, wife of Kratos and mother of Atreus. The game explores her journey through the “Everywhen,” an afterlife of the gods where she battles rival mythologies using Jötunn magic and aerial combat.
Barlog’s comments suggest that God of War Laufey will serve as a key chapter in the series, with its story leading directly into the next mainline adventure starring Kratos.
