The next Kratos-led God of War game will continue the story established in God of War Laufey, according to Santa Monica Studio’s Cory Barlog.
Speaking during San Diego Comic-Con, Barlog confirmed that the next main entry starring Kratos will arrive after Laufey and will connect directly to its story. The update was shared by IGN from the event.
God of War Laufey centres on Laufey the Just, also known as Faye, the Jötunn warrior of Jötunheim, wife of Kratos and mother of Atreus. While her death set the events of God of War (2018) in motion, the new title explores her journey through the “Everywhen,” an afterlife of the gods where she battles rival mythologies using Jötunn magic and fast-paced aerial combat.
Barlog’s comments indicate that the events of Laufey will lead directly into the next God of War game featuring Kratos, linking the two stories as the series continues to expand beyond a single protagonist.
