God of War Ragnarok Is Getting New Game Plus Mode Soon
Sony’s Santa Monica Studio has confirmed that God of War Ragnarok will soon be receiving a New Game Plus mode.
Santa Monica Studio has confirmed on Twitter that God of War Ragnarok is all set to receive a New Game Plus mode in Spring 2023 via a title update. Further details will be shared by the developer closer to the update’s release.
A New Game Plus mode would certainly add some longevity to God of War Ragnarok, and make subsequent playthroughs more interesting for fans.
The most recent update for God of War Ragnarok is version 3.01, which fixes certain issues with quest progression along with stability and performance improvements. More specifically, the patch fixes a case where the central sword would not show properly if restarting from checkpoint during the challenges in Muspelheim.
God of War Ragnarok is one of the fastest selling first-party games from Sony. It was released for the PS4 and PS5 this November and debuted with more than five million copies sold in its launch week, which is a record in itself.
The game is set in ancient Scandinavia, featuring Kratos and his adolescent son Atreus as the protagonists, and is loosely based on Norse mythology. Three years after the events of the last game, Fimbulwinter, a tremendous winter spanning three summers, is coming to an end, signalling the start of the foretold Ragnarök.
Kratos and his son Atreus go on a journey through the nine realms in search of a way to halt Ragnarök while also hoping to find the truth about Atreus’ true nature as Loki. Their adventure will take them to Tyr, the Norse God of War, who was thought to be dead. Thor, the Norse God of Thunder, and Freya, an ally-turned-enemy who seeks vengeance for the murder of her son Baldur, will be at odds with them.
