Gran Turismo 7 On PS5 Doesn’t Sacrifice Quality For The PS4 Version

Gran Turismo 7 will be a cross-generation game that naturally led fans to believe that it might drop some quality to make it run on the PS4.

In an interview with GT Planet, the series creator and producer, Kazunori Yamauchi says that this is not the case. They found that the game was quite scalable and it was possible to develop it not just for the PS5 but also the PS4.

“In a racing game, you can adjust the level of detail. Technology wise, it is a very scalable game in terms of maintaining the frame rate and everything else,” Yamauchi said. “We found that we were able to make a PS4 version and a PS5 version without dropping any quality, so that’s why we decided to do both at the same time.”

So what will be the main difference between the game on the PS4 versus the PS5? According to Yamauchi, loading times will play a big factor. However, he stressed that there is feature parity between both versions so they will play exactly the same, save for the load times.

“The loading time is so different between the PS4 and PS5 that it’s a completely different experience. That’s just something that’s unavoidable between the two.”

Gran Turismo 7 has just received a release date for March 4, 2022. It will be released for PS4 and PS5. Polyphony Digital is currently working on the game. It was originally announced as a PS5 exclusive and then later confirmed to be cross-generation.
