Gran Turismo 7 will receive its free Spec IV update in two parts later this year, with the first update arriving in October and the second following in December. Polyphony Digital has confirmed that the updates will add 12 new cars, two circuits, new ways to compete and several new features.
The first new circuit coming to Gran Turismo 7 is Sportsland SUGO in Japan, which will be added as part of the October update. The track is known for its elevation changes, flowing layout and distinctive Dunlop bridge.
December’s update will then bring back Autumn Ring, a circuit that first appeared in the original Gran Turismo. Polyphony Digital says its return will allow players to experience the classic track in Gran Turismo 7 for the first time.
A total of 12 new cars will be introduced across the two Spec IV updates. Polyphony Digital has not yet revealed which vehicles will be added, with further details planned for a later date.
The update will also expand the ways players can compete. Online Drift Trials will challenge players to demonstrate control, precision and style, while Shuffle Races will introduce randomised conditions to online events and require drivers to adapt their strategies.
Spec IV will additionally introduce new Driving Experiences, an expanded Car Viewer, new progression elements and a Concierge feature for purchasing cars. Polyphony Digital has not yet provided further details on these features.
Family Mode is another major addition and will arrive with the December update. The new mode is designed to make Gran Turismo 7 more approachable for families and friends playing together, providing a starting point for players with different levels of driving experience.
Polyphony Digital says Family Mode should also offer something new for existing players, although further details about how the mode will work have not yet been revealed.
More information about both parts of the Spec IV update will be announced during Gran Turismo World Series Round 3 in Singapore on October 3. Polyphony Digital is expected to reveal additional details about the new cars, circuits, modes and other features at the event.
