Ghost Of Yotei Most Wanted Brings Back Jin Sakai

by Greg Martin

Jin Sakai will return as a playable character in Ghost of Yotei Most Wanted, the new single-player combat survival mode coming to Sucker Punch’s samurai adventure. The studio has revealed that Jin will be one of four playable characters in the mode, complete with all four of his signature stances from Ghost of Tsushima.

Ghost of Yotei Most Wanted is a roguelike-inspired mode included with the Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition. Players select bounties from a board and then fight through increasingly difficult waves of enemies and minibosses before facing the target associated with the bounty.

Completing waves allows players to select perks that can be combined to create different character builds. Bounties can also be replayed at higher difficulty levels, with the toughest challenge eventually pitting players against Lord Saito.

Players will earn Mon during runs, which can be spent outside of them to unlock new techniques, weapon upgrades, charms and additional characters. Cosmetics earned in Most Wanted will also become available in the main game, including during Atsu’s original journey and the upcoming Ghost of Yotei: Echoes of Sekigahara expansion.

Atsu is the default starting character and fights with dual katanas, alongside the Metsubushi blinding powder and Blind Bomb. Her Ultimate, Call of the Pack, summons two wolves to attack nearby enemies, while her Onryo’s Howl Kill Streak frightens nearby enemies and causes one to flee.

Oyuki brings a different approach with the kusarigama, kunai and tanegashima rifle. Her Shadow Killer Ultimate uses smoke to let her quickly assassinate two nearby enemies, while the Shadow Shinobi Kill Streak summons a Nine Tails ally that can fight and perform assassinations for a limited period.

Nagato uses a yari spear, tanzutsu pistol, yumi long bow and hankyu short bow. His Gambler’s Mark Ultimate targets two enemies for guaranteed headshots, while his Blast Arrow Kill Streak restores his Concentration and provides an explosive arrow.

Jin Sakai completes the roster. His character model has been adapted from Ghost of Tsushima for Ghost of Yotei, while retaining the four original stances that allow him to exploit different enemy weaknesses. He also begins with a Sticky Bomb and hankyu.

Jin’s Dance of Wrath Ultimate returns from Ghost of Tsushima, allowing him to target multiple enemies and disarm them. His Kill Streak is Ghost Stance, which terrifies nearby enemies and allows Jin to eliminate a limited number of them with a single strike.

Perks will form the foundation of each build in Most Wanted. Players will encounter choices covering areas such as weapon mastery, gear loadouts, summons, parries and survivability, allowing different combinations to be used throughout each run.

Players who already own Ghost of Yotei can pre order the Complete Edition Upgrade for $14.99. It provides access to Most Wanted and Echoes of Sekigahara on October 1, along with content previously included in the Digital Deluxe Edition and the Charm of Hokkyokusei.

Those who pre order the upgrade by September 30 will also receive early access to the Sakai Armor for Atsu on October 1 without needing to unlock it through Most Wanted.

Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition is available digitally for $69.99 and includes the base game, Ghost of Yotei Legends, Digital Deluxe Edition content, the Charm of Hokkyokusei, Most Wanted and Echoes of Sekigahara. The physical Complete Edition launches on October 1.

A free update will also arrive on October 1 for all Ghost of Yotei owners, regardless of whether they purchase the Complete Edition upgrade. The patch adds Beauty of Yotei mode, new tracks for Watanabe Mode, an option to retain one armour set’s appearance while using another’s statistics, and a new high contrast accessibility setting.
