Halo Studios Has Started Working On A New Pre-Greenlight Multiplayer Project

Xbox Game Studios and Halo Studios have started working on a new pre-greenlight multiplayer project, according to a new rumor.

In his new video, Halo insider and content creator Rebs Gaming mentioned that he discovered new details from a Halo developer’s portfolio website, according to which Halo Studios has started working on a “pre-greenlight project” and has been playtesting it to prove its core gameplay and out-of-match systems. As he explained, pre-greenlight means the project has not yet received approval to enter full production.

Rebs mentioned that the portfolio contains a resume with information dated 2026, and the Wayback Machine indicates that the relevant details were added sometime after April, indicating that the project is a relatively recent development. Additionally, the focus on testing both gameplay and out-of-match systems strongly suggests that it is multiplayer-focused.

The content creator connected this information to an earlier report from one of his sources, who claimed that Halo Studios had prototyped and playtested PvP multiplayer using the hybrid engine developed for Campaign Evolved. He also reported that the developer recently met with members of the Halo community and indicated that a major announcement is planned for Halo Fest, although the studio apparently didn’t reveal what it will announce.

Rebs speculated that the announcement could either be a new project or a roadmap for Halo’s future. Alongside the rumored multiplayer title, a recent job listing indicated that a campaign project is in early development, while the content creator’s source claimed the unannounced Halo 2 remake remains planned despite the negative reception surrounding Halo: Campaign Evolved. Rebs highlighted the hints dropped in the secret ending and post-credits scene in Campaign Evolved as signs that Halo Studios does still plan to revisit Halo 2.  As for the next mainline Halo game, Rebs said that it is still far from release.
