Ground Zero Launches on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series

by Greg Martin

Retro-inspired survival horror title Ground Zero is now available across PC and current-generation consoles, marking its official launch on April 16, 2026. The game has been released on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with a price set at $19.99, €17.99, and £15.99. A 15 percent launch discount is also being offered for the first two weeks.

Developed by Malformation Games and published by Kwalee, Ground Zero places players in a devastated version of South Korea following a catastrophic meteor strike. The disaster has left the region in ruins and transformed surviving life into hostile creatures, setting the stage for a tense and atmospheric experience rooted in classic survival horror design.

The story follows an elite Korean operative and her Canadian partner, who are sent into the remains of Busan two months after the impact to investigate its cause. As they navigate the fog-covered city, they encounter increasingly dangerous threats tied to the mysterious fallout and its effects on the environment.

Gameplay emphasizes traditional survival horror mechanics, including fixed camera angles, pre-rendered backgrounds, and optional tank controls. Players must carefully manage combat encounters using a mix of firearms and close-range attacks, while also solving puzzles and exploring interconnected environments.

Combat rewards precision and efficiency, with players earning Genome Points for cleaner kills that can be used to unlock upgrades. The game also features a variety of enemy types, including large-scale boss encounters, alongside additional content such as alternate outfits, extra modes, and multiple endings for those willing to explore thoroughly.

With its focus on tension, resource management, and deliberate pacing, Ground Zero aims to capture the feel of classic survival horror titles while delivering a modern release across current platforms.
