GTA 6 PEGI 18 Rating Details Its Mature Content

Grand Theft Auto VI has received a PEGI 18 rating in Europe, with the official classification providing detailed information about the mature content in Rockstar Games’ upcoming open-world action game.

The listing includes descriptors for extreme violence, sex, drugs and in-game purchases. PEGI states that the rating was assigned because the game contains strong graphic violence, strong sexual themes and the use of illegal drugs.

According to the classification, violence is frequently depicted throughout the open world, with players able to attack civilians, criminals and authorities. Some scenes are graphic and realistic, including detailed decapitation and dismemberment caused by certain weapons. Domestic animals can also be harmed, although PEGI notes that injuries are less detailed than those inflicted on human characters.

Drug use is also described as frequent and prominent. Players can use illegal substances with other characters or consume them directly from their inventory. PEGI specifically mentions cocaine, which can be carried and consumed directly by the player.

The game features strong sexual themes, including nudity, intercourse and scenes involving sexual fetishes. Players can also pay for private dances at certain nightclubs and physically interact with dancers during these sequences.

Strong language is used frequently, including the word “f**k”, while “c**t” is used occasionally. PEGI also notes that discriminatory language can be heard through in-game television programmes and radio broadcasts.

The classification lists in-game purchases as an additional descriptor, although PEGI clarifies that players can experience the game without purchasing the optional items.

Grand Theft Auto VI is set in the fictional state of Leonida and follows criminals Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. The game features exploration, vehicle theft, combat, robberies and police pursuits as the pair become increasingly involved in criminal activity following a failed robbery.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
