HELLDIVERS 2 serves as the sequel to the 2015 game Helldivers, which was a co-op top-down shooter. The game was released for PlayStation 5 and Windows on February 8, 2024. Unlike its predecessor, Helldivers 2 is a co-op third-person shooter. Players can select Strategems, which are air drops containing cluster bombs, sentry guns, shield generators, or supply pods with limited-use special weaponry, much like in the first game. The game supports multiplayer with up to four players. Friendly fire is always enabled, and the armor system is based on real firearms used against armored targets. Arrowhead’s unique multiplayer feature involves human observers at the studio influencing gameplay in real-time, adding an intriguing element to the gaming experience.
