GTA VI Is Apparently Set For Release By March 2025 Based On Take-Two’s Financial Forecast
Rockstar Games’ upcoming open world action adventure game, GTA VI, is apparently set for release by March, 2025, based on Take-Two’s financial forecast.
During its Q3 2024 Earnings Conference Call, Take-Two Interactive Software Inc revealed that it is sticking to its massive $8 billion revenue forecast for Fiscal year 2025, which spans across April, 2024 and March, 2025. As such, it is expected that the release of GTA VI will happen between January, 2025, and March, 2025.
In response to a question from an investor regarding how the publisher decides when to release a game like GTA VI, Take-Two Interactive, Inc CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that Rockstar Games is “seeking perfection”, and when it feels it has “optimized creatively”, that will be the time to release the game. He further assured investors that they’re all in this together, and that both the development team and the higher management have financial incentives to ensure the game’s production is completed in a timely manner. He said that there is inherent tension, potentially, between getting something to the market and creating perfection, but Rockstar Games company errs on the side of perfection.
Speaking to another investor, Zelnick mentioned that he believes the anticipation for GTA VI is much, much higher than it was for GTA V. On the other hand, he said that 195 million units of GTA V sold to date is nothing to scoff at. He added that the company stops well short of making predictions about how the GTA VI will do, but clearly anticipation is running very, very high.
Grand Theft Auto VI will be the eighth main installment in the Grand Theft Auto series, succeeding Grand Theft Auto V (2013), and the sixteenth overall. The game is set in the fictional open world state of Leonida, which is inspired by Florida and includes a Miami-inspired Vice City. The storyline is expected to revolve around a criminal duo comprising Lucia and her male partner. After years of speculation, Rockstar officially confirmed the game’s development in February 2022. In September of the same year, footage from an unfinished version of the game was leaked online. The game was formally revealed in December 2023 and is planned for release in 2025 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
