Humankind 2 has reportedly appeared on SteamDB ahead of Gamescom Opening Night Live, potentially pointing to an announcement for the unannounced sequel during the upcoming showcase.
The SteamDB listing has surfaced shortly before Gamescom Opening Night Live, which will be hosted by Geoff Keighley. There has been no official announcement for Humankind 2 so far, meaning the listing could be an early indication that the sequel is in development and may be revealed during the event.
The original Humankind was developed by Amplitude Studios and published by Sega. The historical turn-based 4X strategy game allows players to guide a civilisation through six eras of human history, while combining different historical cultures to create a unique civilisation.
Unlike traditional 4X games that typically centre on a single civilisation, Humankind allows players to select from dozens of cultures throughout a campaign. Progress is also measured through Fame, which is accumulated through achievements such as scientific advances, major construction projects and military victories.
Humankind originally launched for PC in August 2021 before arriving on macOS and later consoles in 2023. If the SteamDB listing is connected to a new project, more details about Humankind 2 could emerge during Gamescom Opening Night Live.
