ILL Targets 2027 Release on PS5, Xbox, and PC

by Greg Martin

Team Clout and Mundfish Powerhouse have unveiled a new story trailer for ILL during Sony’s latest State of Play presentation, offering the most detailed look yet at the upcoming survival horror title and confirming a 2027 release window for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Captured on PS5 Pro, the new footage expands on the game’s dark world with fresh story details, previously unseen characters, new locations, and several grotesque new enemy types. The trailer also highlights the title’s focus on realistic horror, showcasing graphic combat encounters, detailed dismemberment effects, and a variety of environmental interactions designed to make every encounter feel tense and unpredictable.

Set within a massive research facility overrun by horrifying creatures known as Aberrations, ILL follows a protagonist attempting to uncover the truth behind a catastrophic outbreak while fighting to save someone important to them. As the facility descends into chaos, players will need to navigate dangerous environments, uncover the source of the disaster, and survive against increasingly deadly threats.

According to Team Clout, ILL is designed as a pure survival horror experience that emphasizes resource management and vulnerability. While firearms will be available, ammunition is intentionally scarce, forcing players to carefully consider every encounter. The game also encourages improvisation, allowing players to use environmental objects such as bricks and metal pipes to defend themselves when supplies run low.

Combat appears to place a strong emphasis on physicality and realism. The newly released footage demonstrates advanced weapon handling systems, brutal melee combat, and highly detailed enemy reactions. Different Aberration types will require different strategies, pushing players to adapt on the fly as situations evolve.

The trailer additionally provides a broader look at the game’s environments. Beyond the claustrophobic hallways and laboratories seen in earlier footage, players will explore larger exterior areas and a wider range of locations throughout the facility and its surroundings.

One of ILL’s most distinctive aspects is its cinematic presentation. Team Clout’s developers have backgrounds in the film industry and have contributed visual effects work to productions including Until Dawn, IT: Welcome to Derry, V/H/S/Beyond, Longlegs, Azrael, and several Sony Pictures horror projects. The studio says this experience is helping shape the game’s photorealistic visuals and immersive atmosphere.

Game Director and Team Clout CEO Max Verehin said the team is working to deliver its ambitious vision for the project and is excited to finally reveal the game’s release window. He also noted that the latest trailer introduces both new monsters and important story characters that will play a role in the narrative.

Mundfish CEO Robert Bagratuni added that ILL aims to push realism in horror games further than previous titles while delivering a compelling mystery that draws players deeper into its world.

ILL is currently scheduled to launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Wishlist pages are already available on Steam, the PlayStation Store, and the Microsoft Store.
