The long-awaited Katana ZERO DLC is still in development and has grown to the size of a full sequel, according to creator Justin Stander. The developer also confirmed that the expansion will feature a soundtrack containing more than 30 new songs, although a release date has yet to be announced.
In an update shared on social media, Stander reassured fans that work on the expansion is continuing. “Hi, everyone! I’m still working hard on the Katana ZERO DLC. We made it bigger. It’s the size of a full sequel, plus a soundtrack of over 30+ new songs. More updates to come. Thanks for your continued support!” he wrote.
The expansion was originally announced as free downloadable content intended to build on the story of Katana ZERO, including its cliffhanger ending. Its scope has increased considerably during development, with the project reportedly growing beyond its initial plans.
Released on April 18, 2019, Katana ZERO is a 2D action platformer developed by Askiisoft and published by Devolver Digital. The game combines fast-paced combat, time manipulation, and pixel-art visuals, with players controlling a samurai assassin who can slow down time to overcome enemies.
Stander has not shared a release window or new gameplay footage in this update, but said more information will be provided in the future.
