Square Enix has announced the 20th Anniversary event for Kingdom Hearts which is scheduled for April 10. It will reportedly feature new announcements.
Kingdom Hearts fans had to wait for a long time to get a proper follow-up to Kingdom Hearts 2. The last mainline game was released back in 2019. It was followed up with a small expansion called Re: Mind that was available for the base game and expanded on its core story with a new ending.
Square Enix is going to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the series in 2022 and has announced an event due on April 10.
On April 10th we’re hosting a Kingdom Hearts 20th anniversary event in Tokyo! We’ll kick off the 20th anniversary celebrations with a mini concert, a chat and Q&A with the development team, an exhibition and much more. A video of the event will be made available at a later date.
Based on the tweet, there will be an in-person event on April 10 in Tokyo and a video of that event will be made available at a later date. Since this is an anniversary celebration event, there is a good chance that either a new project will be announced, or a new mainline game will be revealed there.
Kingdom Hearts is a collaboration between Square Enix and Disney. There have been quite a few demands about a possible Disney Plus show so if this ends up materializing, we might see it during the upcoming anniversary event along with possible other projects.
