Naughty Dog is not finished with The Last of Us, with studio head Neil Druckmann confirming that multiple projects connected to the franchise are currently in development. Druckmann revealed the news during an interview with The Washington Post’s Gene Park, although he did not provide details about what the projects are.
“We’re not done with ‘The Last of Us.’ There’s a couple projects in the works that, when the time is right, I’m very excited to talk about.”
The comments indicate that Naughty Dog has at least two projects associated with The Last of Us currently in the works, although their exact nature remains unknown.
The original The Last of Us launched in 2013 and was followed by The Last of Us Part II in 2020. The franchise has also expanded beyond games through its HBO television adaptation.
Druckmann remains closely associated with the series as Naughty Dog’s studio head and Head of Creative. He served as a writer and creative director on the games and also co-created and executive produced the HBO adaptation.
For now, Naughty Dog is keeping its plans under wraps. Druckmann’s comments suggest that more information will eventually be revealed, but the studio is waiting until the appropriate time to discuss the projects publicly.
