The world map featured in Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s upcoming action role-playing game, Yakuza 8, titled Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, is over 3 times the size of Yakuza 7’s.

Developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio took to Twitter/X to share that the world map featured in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Hawaii’s Honolulu City, is more than 3 times the size of Yakuza 7’s Isezaki Ijincho district of Yokohama.

To put things into perspective, the Isezaki Ijincho district of Yokohama was already 3 times the size of the series staple location of Kamurocho. This makes Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth’s Honolulu City nearly 10 times bigger than prior Yakuza games’ Kamurocho district.

According to the game’s official site, Honolulu City will feature Aloha Beach, giving players the chance to enjoy Hawaii’s beautiful ocean. It is one of the busiest areas in Hawaii, with many people enjoying surfing and relaxing on the beach. Meanwhile, the Anaconda area is home to the Anaconda Shopping Center, one of Hawaii’s largest commercial facilities. In addition to shopping, the area offers all kinds of entertainment such as arcade games and food and drinks. Then there’s Waikiki Town, which is the place to go for souvenir brand specific shopping.

During the day, the Chinatown area is bustling with food stalls and fruit and vegetable markets. At night, the hotel known as Nirvana Bank, which is situated in the backdrop and is visited by the world’s richest people, makes its presence felt. Meanwhile, the Little Japan area is offers a popular sushi restaurant loved by locals as well as a shrine. Rumor has it that there is a mysterious mascot character at the shrine. Lastly, the illegally occupied zone, known as District 5, is a dangerous area that is a den of the local mafia and cannot be accessed by the general public.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is set for release on January 26, 2024, for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
