Next Entry In Naruto Game Series May Be A Reboot
The next entry in Bandai Namco Entertainment’s Naruto game series may end up being a reboot, based on the latest information.
During a Q&A session, Hotaka Sudo, Bandai Namco Entertainment 1st IP Business Division 2nd Production Assistant Manager, was asked what he would like to work on next, now that Naruto X Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections has been released.
In his response, Sudo stated that the development team at Bandai Namco Entertainment has several titles in the works that fans have been asking for. At the same time, he mentioned that he would like to work on games that have a different feel than the existing lineup of games.
He speculated about the next Naruto game, wondering whether it will be a different game genre, or whether it will use a different game engine. He mentioned that he doesn’t yet know what it would be like, he expressed the desire to start planning with a clean slate.
Even though the story of Naruto has ended, he mentioned that he would like it if it the series could receive a reboot. He gave the example of the Harry Potter series, and how, even when the books and movies had finished,it led to a spin-off movies series in Fantastic Beasts as well as the Hogwarts Legacy game.
According to Sudo, if Bandai Namco Entertainment can spread awareness of the IP via its games, the copyright holder will be happy to entrust the publisher with its important IP, and it will be able to build upon that track record and move on to the next work.
The latest entry in the Naruto game series, Naruto X Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections, stands as the seventh release within the Ultimate Ninja Storm series. Developed by CyberConnect2 and published by Namco-Bandai Games, this iteration is slated for release on several platforms, including PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections not only brings back the entire array of Combination Ultimate Jutsu techniques present in Naruto Shippūden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, but it also introduces a selection of new Combination Ultimate Jutsu techniques.
