A Live Action The Legend Of Zelda Movie May Be In Production
A live action movie based on Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda series may be in production, based on the latest rumor.
Twitter user MyTimeToShineHello, who is known for sharing news and scoops from the game industry, claims that film production company Universal Pictures is currently working on a live action movie based on The Legend of Zelda series.
It was previously assumed that computer animation studio Illumination would be working on an animated movie instead. However, the company CEO Chris Meledandri shut down the rumor during an interview, stating that no Zelda movies were in the works at the time.
It’s hard to tell fact from fiction, and this new information regarding a live action production from Universal Pictures may not end up being true. As such, we urge our readers to take such rumors with a grain of salt until they have been confirmed via official channels.
The latest entry in The Legend of Zelda series, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, is a 2023 action adventure game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. It serves as a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild from 2017, maintaining elements such as the open-world setting of Hyrule, now expanded to enable more vertical exploration. The game’s narrative revolves around Link’s quest to locate Princess Zelda and thwart the Demon King’s world-threatening ambitions.
The concept for “Tears of the Kingdom” emerged when the ideas for Breath of the Wild’s DLC exceeded the project’s scope. Nintendo’s Entertainment Planning & Development (EPD) division led the game’s development, with the original “Breath of the Wild” director, Hidemaro Fujibayashi, and producer, Eiji Aonuma, returning to their respective roles.
It was recently revealed during an interview by Producer Eiji Aonuma that Nintendo has no plans to release downloadable content for the game.
