2K and Hangar 13’s action adventure game, Mafia: Definitive Edition, is headed to Xbox Game Pass in August, based on the latest information.

Known insider Nate Drake took to gaming enthusiast forum Reset Era to share that, based on his information, Mafia: Definitive Edition will arrive on Xbox Game Pass next month in August. Though, he didn’t mention whether the game would be added to the subscription service’s game catalog during wave 1 or 2.

As for whether the other two titles in the series, Mafia 2: Definitive Edition and Mafia 3, will be added to Microsoft’s premium game subscription service is anyone’s guess. It would make a lot of sense if this is the case, as it would allow those new to the series to experience the complete trilogy. Mafia: Definitive Edition has also been offered as one of the PS Plus Essential monthly titles earlier this year during March, 2024, while Mafia II: Definitive Edition was offered in November, 2023, and Mafia III was offered earlier in August, 2018.

For the uninitiated, Mafia: Definitive Edition is a remake of the 2002’s Mafia. Like the original, the remake is set in the fictional city of Lost Heaven, Illinois, during the 1930s, and follows the story of Tommy Angelo, a Sicilian American cab driver who becomes a gangster in the Salieri crime family. The game features an open world, and players can choose to explore Lost Heaven when not engaged in missions that further the story. Exploration primarily takes place in the Free Ride game mode, where players can undertake hidden side missions and find collectibles that are not available during the main missions. The gameplay is based on 2016’s Mafia III, with improved mission dynamics and the addition of motorcycles.  The game was released for PS4, PC, and Xbox One on September 25, 2020, both individually and as part of the Mafia: Trilogy pack.
