NetEase Games has unveiled the major features coming in Marvel Rivals Season 9.5, which launches on August 7, 2026. The update introduces a new playable hero, additional cosmetics, returning events, and a significant technical overhaul that reduces the game’s install size across all platforms.
One of the biggest improvements is a new texture compression system that cuts the game’s storage footprint by roughly 40 GB on PC and 15 GB on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. While the initial download will be larger than usual, the final installation will require considerably less storage space.

Marvel Rivals is a free-to-play 6v6 team-based hero shooter developed by NetEase Games in collaboration with Marvel Games. Originally released on December 6, 2024, the game is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version currently in development. Season 9.5 launches on August 7, 2026, with additional cosmetics arriving on August 13.
