Sony Interactive Entertainment and Insomniac Games’ may have begun development on Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, based on recent findings.
Ben Jordan, the face model for Peter Parker in the Marvel’s Spider-Man series, recently shared an Instagram story (via WeBeenCroft on Twitter/X) in which he is seen performing a facial capture session for what appears to be the third entry, Marvel’s Spider-Man 3. His story is accompanied by the caption, “IYKYK” (“If You Know You Know”), hinting at the unannounced title’s existence.
Jordan is specifically known for his likeness scans in the original Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. It’s unlikely for this recent facial capture to be for a game outside of the series. Given how Marvel’s Venom appears to have been canceled, the only likely possibility is that development on Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 has begun.
The ending to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 suggested that the Green Goblin will be featured as a central villain in the upcoming title, as Norman Osborn is seen joining forces with Doctor Octavius.. A leaked presentation slide from 2 years prior potentially gave us our first look at concept art showing off his character design.
Among the wave of leaks involving Insomniac Games’ future titles was a presentation slide on the financial feasibility of Marvel’s Venom, and its business and pricing model being similar to that of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The now canceled game was originally scheduled for a Holiday 2025 release.
The previous entry in the Marvel’s Spider-Man series, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, revolves around Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they grapple with personal challenges while confronting new threats, such as Kraven the Hunter’s private militia turning New York City into a hunting ground for super-powered individuals and the Venom symbiote, an extraterrestrial entity that negatively influences Parker and jeopardizes his relationships. The gameplay builds upon the established foundation of its predecessors, highlighting the diverse play styles of Peter Parker and Miles Morales as Spider-Men. It enhances their traversal and combat abilities, introducing new web-based gadgets and unlockable suits tied to the story’s progression.
