Marvel’s Wolverine has officially gone gold ahead of its September 15 release, Insomniac Games has announced. The developer shared the news on social media with an image of Wolverine displaying his claws, marking an important milestone ahead of the game’s launch exclusively on PlayStation 5.
Insomniac celebrated the announcement by writing that it was “popping claws in celebration” because Marvel’s Wolverine had gone gold. The studio also confirmed another detail that fans can look forward to, revealing that Gold Claws can be unlocked and equipped during the game.
Going gold generally means the development team has reached a version of the game considered ready for manufacturing and release. While work can still continue on patches and other post-launch updates, the milestone indicates that the core development process is complete.
Marvel’s Wolverine is being developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The single-player action adventure is set within the same universe as Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man games and follows James “Logan” Howlett in an original story featuring characters including Jean Grey, Mystique and Sabretooth.
The game focuses on close-quarters combat built around Wolverine’s adamantium claws, regenerative healing and heightened senses. The story will take players across multiple locations as Logan confronts threats connected to his past.
Marvel’s Wolverine is scheduled to launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 on September 15, 2026.
