Marvel’s Wolverine PS5 Vs PS5 Pro: Which Is Best?

by Salal Awan

Marvel’s Wolverine offers several visual settings across PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro, giving players different options for image quality, ray tracing and performance. While the standard PS5 provides Fidelity and Performance modes, the PS5 Pro expands those options with Fidelity Pro and Performance Pro, alongside an Advanced Ray Tracing option.

The most significant differences between the modes come down to rendering resolution, reflections and shadows. Fidelity mode internally operates between 2160p and 1440p, while Performance mode lowers the internal resolution range to between 1440p and 1080p to achieve its higher frame rate target.

Both PS5 and PS5 Pro versions support VRR, allowing the frame rate to run beyond the standard mode targets when using a compatible display. With Unlimited mode enabled, however, the resolution can drop below 1080p in certain situations.

PS5 Vs PS5 Pro Image Quality

The main advantage of the PS5 Pro is image quality. PSSR provides improved reconstruction, while the more powerful console also offers enhanced reflections and additional global illumination detail. These differences become particularly visible when Advanced Ray Tracing is enabled.

On the standard PS5, Fidelity mode targets 30 FPS while Performance mode targets 60 FPS. With VRR and a 120Hz display, however, Fidelity mode can approach 60 FPS, while Performance mode can reach peaks above 100 FPS under suitable conditions.

The PS5 Pro provides additional visual options through Fidelity Pro and Performance Pro. Advanced Ray Tracing can also be enabled on the Pro, adding further improvements to reflections and lighting.

According to the comparison, Advanced Ray Tracing has a relatively small performance cost on PS5 Pro, reducing performance by only around three to four frames per second. As a result, enabling the feature is recommended when using the more powerful console.

Which Version Is Best?

The PS5 Pro is the stronger option for players prioritizing image quality and advanced visual effects. PSSR, improved reflections, enhanced global illumination and Advanced Ray Tracing give the Pro a clear advantage over the standard PS5.

The standard PS5 remains capable of delivering either a 30 FPS higher-quality presentation or a 60 FPS Performance mode. Players with a 120Hz VRR display can also take advantage of unlocked frame rates in the appropriate modes.

Marvel’s Wolverine is scheduled to launch on September 15, 2026, exclusively for PlayStation 5. Developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, the single-player action-adventure follows Logan and his adamantium claws through a linear story set within the same universe as Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man games.
