Konami’s Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots may be released on modern platforms as part of Volume 2 of the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection.
The pre-order page for the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection features a screenshot of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots in the manual for Metal Gear Solid 1, suggesting that the fourth entry may be getting released in future as part of Volume 2.
Additionally, the new Metal Gear Solid website has added buttons to the timeline for the games featured in Volume 1 of the Master Collection. Inspecting the page source reveals placeholder buttons for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. The inactive buttons suggest that new pages for these games will likely be created.
The timeline buttons do not link to the currently existing and still active official pages for the games shown, which are categorized on the Portal Site under ‘Lineup’. Instead, they link to several new, separate pages which were also recently added, and which advertise and feature both screenshots and footage from Volume 1 of the Master Collection.
It’s also worth noting that only the canonical games missing from the Master Collection are ones with inactive buttons. All of the included games i.e. Metal Gear Solid 3, Metal Gear Solid 1, and Metal Gear Solid 2, have functional buttons.
The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1 is an upcoming game compilation that includes several iconic titles from the Metal Gear series. This collection features Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (the latter two versions are specifically sourced from the Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection). The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1 is set to be released on October 24, 2023, and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Nintendo Switch platforms.
