A new set of Nintendo-related rumors is circulating after comments from YouTuber Reece “Kiwi Talkz” Reilly, who suggested that several major franchises may have projects in development or nearing release.
In the original post, Reilly wrote, “These are my 4 favorite game franchises of all time and it’s great that I know all 4 IP’s have stuff coming either soon or in a year or two. GTA 6 in November, another Metroid game on the near horizon, Smash Bros in the next year or two and another Zelda game & the movie in 2027.” The wording quickly led to speculation that entirely new entries in these franchises were being teased.
Reilly later clarified his comments, emphasizing that his statements were being misinterpreted. He noted, “People are misquoting me again, nowhere in the tweet did I say any of these games are NEW.” He further explained that the projects in question could take various forms, adding, “it could be new, it could be a spinoff, it could be a remaster, it could be something on NSO.” Addressing speculation around Smash Bros specifically, he added, “I might have been referring to Smash Ultimate Switch 2 edition, I might have been referring to Smash Bros Melee or Brawl on NSO, I didn’t specifically say a new Smash game in 2027/2028 and for good reason.”
The remarks arrive alongside existing speculation about Nintendo’s future lineup. Reports have previously suggested a possible Zelda project targeting 2026, potentially linked to a remake of Ocarina of Time. Meanwhile, the idea of legacy titles appearing on Nintendo Switch Online continues to circulate, particularly with GameCube era games often mentioned in discussions.
As for Metroid, the recent release of Metroid Prime 4 leaves open the possibility that Reilly’s comment could refer to additional content, spin-offs, or catalog additions rather than a brand new installment.
