Modern Warfare 2 Premium Expansion Launches In 2023, Equal To “Full Release”
A paid expansion for Call of duty Modern Warfare 2 is set to launch sometime in the year 2023, and it is expected to be equivalent to a “full premium release”.
In its 3rd Quarter 2022 press release, Activision announced that it is looking forward to building on its current momentum in 2023, with plans for next year including a new full premium release in the blockbuster annual series. This is in contrast to what was previously reported regarding the release of a campaign DLC in late 2023.
Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier shared his thoughts on the official statement from Activision, stating that the next Call of Duty game, developed by Treyarch, is set for release in the year 2024. According to him, there will be a “premium” (paid) expansion for Modern Warfare 2 in 2023, and it will be developed by Sledgehammer. He added that the expansion is set to offer lots of new content, which is likely why Activision is treating it as a “full” release.
Previously, Twitter user TheGhostOfHope, who has been a pretty reliable source for Call of Duty related leaks in the past, has revealed that the latest entry in the series, Modern Warfare 2, will receive DLC for its campaign in late 2023. They also stated that this story DLC will be bundled with the paid DLC map pack they had leaked some time earlier.
According to the leak, the aforementioned map pack will be made available as paid content a year after Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2’s release, and will feature a selection of classic maps. There is no word on the pricing of this campaign DLC and map pack that is said to be bundled and released as substantial year 2 content for the game.
