Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 Demo and Pre-Orders Now Live

by Greg Martin

Capcom has released a free demo for Monster Hunter Wilds on Nintendo Switch 2, giving players an early look at the action RPG ahead of its December 4, 2026, launch. Pre-orders for the full game are also now available through the Nintendo eShop.

The Monster Hunter Wilds Prologue Demo includes the full opening of the game, along with its character creator, which lets players customize their Hunter and Palico companion. Players can experience the story and hunt monsters in the Windward Plains before continuing their adventure in the full release.

Progress made in the demo will carry over to the full game, allowing players to pick up where they left off. Although the demo is limited to offline play, Nintendo Switch 2 players can team up through local wireless multiplayer.

The base game is available for pre-order on the Nintendo eShop. Players who pre-order by December 3 will receive an early adopter price of $29.99, along with the Guild Knight Set layered armor and Hope Charm Talisman as bonuses.

A physical Deluxe Edition is also available for pre-order through retailers for $39.99. It includes the base game and Deluxe Pack cosmetic items.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version will launch with all content released through the game’s Title Updates. This includes the Grand Hub, additional monsters such as Mizutsune, Lagiacrus, Seregios, and the elder dragon Gogmazios, as well as the Final Fantasy XIV Online collaboration and additional challenges.

Cross-play will also be supported, allowing Nintendo Switch 2 players to join online multiplayer sessions with players on other platforms.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, a major expansion for the game, is planned for release in 2027. The expansion is coming to Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
